Should You Still Buy Windows 10?
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, and consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) ended on October 13, 2026. Windows 10 still installs and activates normally, but it no longer receives free security updates. It remains a practical choice for older PCs without TPM 2.0, machines running legacy software or hardware, and offline systems. If your PC meets the requirements, Windows 11 is the better long-term buy, and a Windows 10 Pro key generally activates Windows 11 Pro too.

Windows 10 Pro vs Home
Windows 10 Home covers everyday use. Windows 10 Pro adds BitLocker encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V, Group Policy and domain join. For a work PC, Pro is the safer choice, and the upgrade from Home to Pro takes about ten minutes without a reinstall.
| Feature | Windows 10 Home | Windows 10 Pro |
|---|
| Core desktop, apps and gaming | Yes | Yes |
| BitLocker encryption | No | Yes |
| Remote Desktop host | No | Yes |
| Hyper-V virtual machines | No | Yes |
| Group Policy and domain join | No | Yes |
What Is Windows 10 Pro N?
Windows 10 N editions are sold mainly in Europe. They work exactly like the standard editions but ship without Windows Media Player and related media apps. Install the free Media Feature Pack from Microsoft to add them. Unless you need an N edition, choose the standard version.
Windows 10 System Requirements
- 1 GHz or faster processor
- 2 GB RAM (64-bit) or 1 GB (32-bit)

Unlike Windows 11, Windows 10 doesn't need TPM 2.0, which is why it is still popular for older hardware.

Windows 10 Key FAQ
Is Windows 10 still safe to use?
It works, but it no longer receives free security updates after support ended. Keep it offline or behind good security tools, and plan a move to Windows 11 where the hardware allows.
Can I use a Windows 10 Pro key for Windows 11?
Generally yes. On compatible hardware, a Windows 10 Pro key activates Windows 11 Pro, and a Home key activates Windows 11 Home.
Can I use a Windows 10 Home key to activate Pro?
No. A Home key only activates Home. To move to Pro, use a Pro key or our Home to Pro upgrade key.
What is the difference between retail and OEM Windows 10 keys?
Retail keys can be transferred to another PC; OEM keys stay with the first PC they activate. Each product page states the licence type.
Does the key work for 32-bit and 64-bit?
Yes. The same key activates both. Choose 64-bit unless your hardware is very old.
