How to Install and Activate

1. Download the Windows Server 2022 ISO from the Microsoft Evaluation Center and install the Desktop Experience or Server Core option.
2. Evaluation installs must be converted before a retail key will activate. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run: DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula, then restart when prompted.
3. If the server is already a full (non-evaluation) installation, enter the key under Settings → System → Activation or run slmgr /ipk followed by slmgr /ato.
4. Activation is online, so make sure the server is connected to the internet.

Should I choose Server 2025 Datacenter instead?
